Great Western Railway: The Famous Five
The story of the Famous Five continues as they journey across the beautiful English countryside with Great Western Railway.
Overview
The Famous Five by Enid Blyton returns to television screens for the wonderful Great Western Railway advert.
Our team at Athena Productions were delighted to contribute to the childhood classic with our friends at Not to Scale, where we were tasked with creating environment concept art and 2.5d Matte Paintings for the advertisement.
Approach
Our team was initially provided with storyboards, and sketches for the compositions while also being given references of previous advertisements for Great Western Railway which had strong and iconic vintage styles that we needed to match.
Process
From there we had to ensure that we kept Photoshop files and PSD's ordered, and clean throughout so other teams could create a parallax effect when it came time to animate the trailer. As we progressed, we began to create PSD skies for other team mates to use so that we could quickly and accurately capture the same tone and cloud structure in similar or close shots. Our teams collaboration with one another was close, creating an efficient and quick workflow.
Result
Our talented team at Athena Productions showed our versatility, as we quickly got up to speed with the technical and artistic requirements of the project, crafting multiple matte paintings.
