12 Video Games We're Excited for in 2026
Join us as we highlight the games our team is most hyped for in 2026 - a lineup packed with magic, spies, heroes, horror and everything in between.
It’s no secret that we’re lovers of games over here at Athena Productions - it’s what we do after all!
We’ve spoken to our team to ask them which games they are most excited to play, and we’ve got together a list of our most anticipated games.
It’s a wide variety of games ranging from cute, chill pixels to terrifying, on-the-edge-of-your-seat horror!
Let’s take a look at some of our most anticipated game releases coming in 2026!
Witchbrook
This is a cozy choice from our Creative Director Ellie - and we love the beautiful art style of this game from the developer Chucklefish, who was behind the hit game Stardew Valley!
It’s certainly a different speed from other more action-packed games on our list, but we can’t wait to curl up under a warm blanket, with a classic cup of tea with this cute pixelated game based around being a student at Witchbrook College in the seaside city of Mossport.
While the original release date was end of 2025, it has been moved into 2026 but we cannot wait to live out our witchy fantasies in this sim game!
You will be able to play Witchbrook on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S.
Marvel's Wolverine
This choice comes from two of our team, Anthony and Adam and we cannot wait to see this classic adamantium Marvel hero come to our consoles!
We’re especially excited knowing that it’s from the developer of the fantastic Marvel Spiderman games Insomniac Games. From the trailer we have seen, it looks to be a gory, combat focused game and we’re here for it!
In terms of where you can play Marvel’s Wolverine, so far we only know about PlayStation 5 but this may change as we get closer to a release date.
007 First Light
As a British and UK-based studio, we couldn’t leave 007 out of this list!
007 First Light is made by IO Interactive, the developers behind the Hitman series which is renowned for its mission system, where there are a multitude of ways to assassinate a target. We’re excited to see this same gameplay feature come to 007 First Light.
While Bond will be relying on stealth, there is also the opportunity to get in gun and fist fights, car chases and explosive moments as you try to earn your number as a younger James Bond.
The release date for this one is the 27th March 2026, and you can play it on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC. We’re excited to get on our custom-made suit, and sip our shaken - but not stirred - martinis!
Persona 4 Revival
Persona 4 Revival is a remake of the 2008 game of the same name. From what we’ve seen of the trailer so far, it brings the classic anime-like style and the classic RPG experience.
We’re excited to experience the rural Japanese town of Inaba, where you will be investigating murder scenes while also getting to enjoy moments at Yasogami High School.
While the release date for Persona 4 Revival hasn’t been announced quite yet, our Producer Cecile is hoping that it will be in 2026. From what we know so far, the game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S.
Grand Theft Auto 6
We know that this one will be on many people’s list and for good reason. We’re excited to return to the GTA franchise from Rockstar Games, twelve years after GTA V.
Set in the fictional state of Leonida, the trailer introduces the two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, as they attempt to pull off a robbery together. Beyond that, the story remains a mystery for now.
Gameplay details are still sparse, but it's expected to build upon the open-world exploration, storytelling, and diverse character interactions that have become staples of the series.
With a rumored development cost of $1–$2 billion, Grand Theft Auto VI is potentially one of the most expensive video games to date. Analysts predict that the game will generate $3 billion within its first year of release, with $1 billion of that coming from pre-orders alone.
Originally set to release in the Fall of 2025, it was then pushed to early 2026 and then in November 2025 Rockstar announced the new release date of the 19th November 2026. We have our fingers crossed!
Grand Theft Auto VI will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Fable
Fable 4 has been in production for a few years now, but we’re excited to see this legendary franchise getting a reboot with Playground Games. Many of us in the studio grew up with Fable, and we cannot wait to play it!
From what we know so far, we will be returning to Albion and we’ve seen some impressive first glimpses at combat with fantastical creatures, and beautiful, sweeping landscapes but we don’t know much more than that.
In February 2025, the game was delayed in 2026 so we have our fingers crossed that we will get our hands on Fable this upcoming year! You will be able to play it on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
OD
It has been over 10 years since the release of P.T Demo back in 2014 (and we definitely made sure to not uninstall the demo) and we’re excited to see Hideo Kojima and his studio, Kojima Productions are back to terrify and give us sleepless nights!
From what we’ve seen of the teaser trailer, it is very much in the same scary vein as P.T. The most interesting part **of** this game is the involvement of the Get Out director Jordan Peele, as a co-writer to Kojima.
While the trailer didn’t give much away, you can bet that we’ll be first in line to get jumpscared!
Gears of War: E-Day
A great choice for our concept artist Jake, the trailer came bursting onto our screen at Xbox Game Showcase in 2024 from The Coalition and it promises to be hard-hitting and gory.
From what we know, the game is focused on the dark, horror aspect of the world and is set 14 years before the original game, and we will be playing the origin story of Marcus Fenix during Emergence Day, battling the Locust Horde alongside Dom Santiago. Both roles are being reprised by their original cast of John DiMaggio and Carlos Ferro.
Set to release next year, and playable on Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows - we’re looking forward to playing this brutal third-person shooter!
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
This new Marvel game from Skydance Interactive is set in the 1940’s with the story centred around Captain America and Azzuri, the Black Panther who need to work together to confront and stop Hydra - though you will get to play four different heroes through the game.
While we haven’t seen much gameplay announced yet, we know that this game will be a story-rich one. There hasn’t been a solid release date yet, but we know that you will be able to play Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X and Series S.
High on Life 2
While we may be a bit biased looking forward to High on Life 2, since we were lucky enough to work on it - we’re excited to pick up 5 years after the first game as the most famous bounty hunter in the universe!
We’re excited to return to the unique universe that this series from Squanch Games offers, from the unique talking guns to the **wacky** comedy the first game was well-known for. You won’t have to wait long, as High on Life 2 already has a release date of February 13th, 2026 on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X and Series S.
Lords of the Fallen 2
Announced at Gamescom, we cannot wait to return to the souls-like dark fantasy of Lords of the Fallen from CI Games.
We don’t know much yet, but it is suspected that you will continue on the story of Mournstead, following one of the ‘true’ or canon endings that you can get.
No release date has been forthcoming so far, but we do know you will be able to play Lords of the Fallen 2 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One and PC.
The Blood of Dawnwalker
Veering away from our witch-life fantasies in Witchbrook, we’re embracing the darkness in this dark-fantasy vampire RPG.
From the studio Rebel Wolves - made up of former devs from CD Projekt Red - this game is the first release for this studio.
You play as Coen, who is cursed by vampirism but is still able to walk in the light making him a Dawnwalker. With the use of his new abilities, your task is to save your family under limited time constraints.
From what we know so far, your decisions will affect your story leading to multiple endings, all set within an open-world.
While we know that the game is being released in 2026, there hasn’t yet been a specific date announced. We do know however that you can play this game on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X and Series S.
Final Thoughts
It looks to be a stellar year for game releases in 2026 - and while our bank accounts won’t be thanking us for it - we’re excited to get our hands on all the games that are coming out!
